Sarah & Duncan Currie
Duncan 5th Generation Farmer Eastern Cape Farmer, Sarah hails from Port Elizabeth, has a hospitality backround and spent a decade abroad. They met in Cape Town and married 2014. Sarah packed in her hospitality career and moved to their farmstead in rural Eastern Cape, which is located between Hogsback & Cathcart. Duncan focuses more on the Sheep & Cattle farming enterprise , Sarah on the blueberry production and is sole owner of the retail company Hogsback Berries.
Callan Jacoby
Callan recently joined the Hogsback Berries Team, and took over all the logistical elements of delivering our berries around the Eastern Cape, as well as collecting our bought in produce from from our other supplying farms. Callan comes from East London, but is now located in Cathcart area as he works and lives with his uncle who farms in the district.
Sabelo Molena
Sabelo is a jack of all trades and helps out with just about everything berry related! From being the foreman in the field during picking and pruning times, to helping Sarah on the farm with loading, packing and just about any general heavy duty work! When not helping out with berry related or farming tasks, he is a full time handy man and "horticultural assistant" for Sarah & Duncan. Sabelo has also been a foster dad to many MANY hand reared orphan lambs, and assisted Sarah in her relentless pursuit to heal and rehabilitate countless sick sheep/chickens/cows on the farm!

These are our part time packing ladies who reside on the farm with Duncan & Sarah - they ensure our goodies are always timeously packed and ready for all our orders before delivery.
Picking & Pruning Crew
Annually we employ seasonal workers from the informal settlement just outside the village of Hogsback. In peak picking season we need 30-40 people per picking day to help us clear our field as quickly as possible. The picking work is highly coveted by casual workers in the area as we incentivize our pickers, paying them by the punnet picked. This enables them to earn a great daily wage! In Winter we employ a core crew of our picking ladies and gents to help with our annual pruning of the shrubs, which is a highly skilled task.
Jen & Lochart Whyle
Jen & Lochart are the partners in our blueberry production venture. Jen hails from Scotland, and married SA born Lochart. Lochart is also a generational Cattle farmer, and they are the owners of the most beautiful farm on the foothills of the Hogsback Mountains, Grasslands, on which our blueberries are grown. Jen sells their share of blueberries under her own label which is not affiliated with Hogsback Berries.
