Peach, Banana & Red Berry Smoothie

This super fruity smoothie is packed with both fresh and frozen ingredients! Medjool dates are a great natural sweetener and can be used in any smoothies lacking a bit of sweetness. I have also used a nut butter in this, which adds a lovely richness. Be mindful that nut butters are very high in fat so only add these if you are happy with those extra calories or if for instance you are in training/doing endurance racing and need that extra energy to fire you up during session. A few tablespoons of nut butter into any smoothies is a great way of adding extra protein and fat calories without bulky filling ingredients!

Ingredients

1 Fresh Banana
1 Fresh Peach
1 cup Frozen Raspberries
2-3 Fresh Strawberries
2-3 Medjool Dates
2 Tbsp Plain Yoghurt
2 Tbsp Macadamia Nut Butter (or any nut butter)

Method

1. Using either your food processor/nutri bullet/stick blender blitz together your smoothie ingredients, adding as much liquid as you prefer. Test the sweetness and add more dates if it is not sweetened to your liking.

2. If the blender blade gets stuck and wont blend, stop and scrape down or mix ingredients with a spoon and repeat blending. Sometimes the mix needs a little bit of coaxing to finish blending. If it’s really struggling add a bit more liquid. If you have gone too far with adding liquid, remember you can always stiffen it up again by placing a bit more frozen fruit into the mix.

3. Place in a bowl and top any suitable toppings and serve immediately.
