Blueberry, Raw Oat & Strawberry Smoothie

Introducing oats into a smoothie gives you a bit more of a sustained energy supply for your morning meal or snack. Oats has a low glycemic index which means it digests slower in your body which helps keeps you satiated for longer. Using oats that you have soaked overnight also gives your smoothie a lovely creamy flavour and using cooked cooled oats gives you a wonderful smooth texture!

Ingredients

Serves 1

1 cup frozen Strawberries
2 cups frozen Blueberries
1/2 cup raw Oats
1 cup Coconut Water (or nut milk)
Honey to taste (optional)

Method

1. Using either your food processor/nutri bullet/stick blender blitz together your smoothie ingredients, adding as much liquid as you prefer. Test the sweetness and adjust sweetness by adding more honey if you would like.
2. If the blender blade gets stuck and wont blend, stop and scrape down or mix ingredients with a spoon and repeat blending. Sometimes the mix needs a little bit of coaxing to finish blending. If its really struggling add a bit more liquid. If you have gone too far with adding liquid, remember you can always stiffen it up again by placing a bit more frozen fruit into the mix.
3. Place in a bowl and top any suitable toppings and serve immediately.
